Installing our Wide Guards on a Jimny
Fitting our wider guards is a fairly easy task. You'll need:
- a battery driver
- a flat head screw driver
- window cleaner or similar
- 10mm socket/spanner
First off, remove the factory guards. This is done by removing the clips under the guards, and there are a couple of 10mm bolts holding them on, too.
Then, clean the panel up nicely so the tape will stick to the panel. We use glass cleaner for this, as it's good at removing anything that'll prevent adhesion.
Next, prepare the new guard. First use the provided alcohol wipes to clean the surface that is going to stick to the guard. Then, rub the same surface with the provided adhesion promoter.
Then apply the double sided tape to the guard.
Next, don't pull the second side off the double sided tape, but start mounting the guard to the car. At this stage, you want the plastic clips on, under the guard, first.
Once these clips are on, then you can pull the red strip off the double sided tape, and stick the guard to the panel.
Finally, with your battery driver, you'll screw the screws into the holes no the guards. This will make new holes in the panels of your car. If you wish, you may want to create pilot holes first.
I do recommend adding an extra one at the bottom, like in the below photo. There are enough screws for this.
